Online Destination for the Living & Dead
Author and filmmaker Tonya Hurley virtually raised the dead with the release of her official ghostgirl Web site in the summer of 2002. Working together, VPI.Net and Ms. Hurley brought ghostgirl to life, online. The extensive and otherworldly Web site offers insight into the ghostgirl story of an unpopular high school student who is "just dying to be popular," and a selection of activities and games geared towards high school-aged girls at http://ghostgirl.com. "I chose the web as the first way of introducing ghostgirl and expressing what her world was all about because it allowed me the most freedom," says Ms. Hurley. "I could grow the character easily and build a loyal community of those who were interested. I am still amazed and grateful at the instant, positive reaction I received to both the ghostgirl.com and ghostgirlonred.com launches from fans and the creative community." From the moment visitors enter the ghostgirl.com site, they are provided a unique, intimate experience. Visitors are welcomed by a seasonally changing, Adobe Flash animation of ghostgirl in a color palette of dark gray, feminine pink and deathly black, and the message: "Ever Feel Invisible?" Visitors are immediately drawn into a fantastical, but entirely relatable world, of Flash-enabled floating books, flickering candles, crawling vines and spiders, and the eerily appealing Charlotte Usher, a.k.a. ghostgirl. "Tonya Hurley is a creative, driving force who engages, challenges and responds to her audience," says Zack Zeiler, VPI.Net President and CEO. "She provided beautiful assets, a great vision, and is truly one of the most creative people we've ever seen online." A major reason for the appeal of the ghostgirl.com experience, among its loyal and devoted fans, is Ms. Hurley's hands-on approach. The site is continually updated by Ms. Hurley, herself, using VPI.Net's SiteController Content Management System. Visitors can enjoy consistently updated "spirit tips" in the "free spirit" section, frank monthly horoscopes on the "Horrorscopes" page, the hottest ghostgirl-recommended music and books, weekly advice in the "ghost writer" section, daily featured dead celebrities and musicians on the "died 2 day" page, and more. With 18 main sections to visit and more hiding within those sections, ghostgirl offers visitors a virtual escape with activity after activity, and encourages users to get interactive by submitting their own poetry or voting on others' poetry in the "poetry slam" section, posting a message on the "popular post" page, sending a g-card to a friend, or by taking advantage of the free printable posters, iPodTM tattoos, screensavers, and AIM icons on the "dead giveaway" page. Additionally, visitors can access www.ghostgirlonred.com, AOL RED's ghostgirl site, also built by VPI.Net, where the ghostgirl experience begins all over again. Visitors can visit the "Damaged Goods" page where they can purchase clothes, books and merchandise, the "Social Life" section where users can select blog skins, wallpapers, and screensavers, the "Killing Time" section full of games and activities, the "Dead Beats" page for music downloads, and the "Tortured Artist" section where users can submit images of their artistic works to be posted in the ghostgirl gallery. Ms. Hurley added, "VPI.Net was willing to work closely with me to ensure that my vision of ghostgirl was realized just as I had imagined it. They were amazing problem solvers in every phase of the process from development to design to launch. That kind of personal attention is very rare and is much appreciated." The ghostgirl novel will be published in March 2008 by Little, Brown.

In anticipation of the release of the "Surf's Up" movie, in theaters June 8th, VPI.Net created two distinctive Web sites to help promote the kid-friendly, surf-inspired, animated movie. Vying for an opportunity to win a trip for four to attend an advance screening of "Surf's Up" on May 23rd, visitors to the Screening Sweepstakes site were welcomed with a summer beach color scheme of sandy tan, ocean blue and sunny yellow. Dreamgirls Live the Dream Sweepstakes
With the launch of AOL, LLC's Dreamgirls "Live the Dream" Contest Web site, Visual Perspectives Internet, Inc.'s (VPI.Net) provided hopeful singers a dream opportunity for pop stardom. To promote the Dreamgirls major motion picture DVD release, VPI.Net built a site that created excitement about the upcoming DVD release and enabled participants to upload and post an entry video to the contest Web site. Visitors to the Dreamgirls "Live the Dream" Contest Web site were greeted by a home page that emulated the glamour and style of the Dreamgirls movie and was enhanced by a color palette of midnight black, electric blue, and steamy white. Offering an easy-to-use navigation that included an Official Rules section, Song List & Lyrics page, Prizes section, and an option to Buy DVD section that linked directly to Amazon.com; visitors to the site could easily navigate their way to song-singing celebrity and Dreamgirls DVD ownership. Contestants were required to select a specific song from a list of Dreamgirls' lyrics provided in the Song List & Lyric section of the Web site, sing the selected song a capella, and end their video with a release date statement in order to be eligible. Contestants sang to impress, vying for an opportunity to win a grand prize of a $5,000 American Express Cheque Card and the chance for the producers and writers of Dreamgirls to view their winning video. Participants did not need to register to take part in the "Live the Dream" contest; contestants were simply able to click the AOL UnCut Video upload button and upload their video by using their AOL screen name. Once uploaded the videos were posted to the AOL UnCut Video Web site where visitors were able to watch and vote on their personal favorites. Once the contest ended, a panel of judges from VPI.Net evaluated the participants' videos based on the percentage met of three, pre-set criteria including 50 percent for vocal tone, 25 percent for lyrical accuracy, and 25 percent for showmanship. At the completion of the contest, VPI.Net created a direct link from the Dreamgirls "Live the Dream" Contest Web site to the Grand Prize winner's video and provided all prize fulfillment for AOL, LLC. For the Dreamgirls "Live the Dream" Contest Web site, VPI.Net worked to create a fun, engaging, and inviting site that was both interactive for the visitor and revenue-generating for the client. Through the use of innovative elements and active involvement throughout the whole process from site creation to prize fulfillment, VPI.Net took the Dreamgirls experience online and made it accessible to every fan.
